1: If there is a fire, don't panic. Stay calm. Shout "Fire!" several times, and go outside right away. | 2: DO NOT hide from a fire. The firefighters can find you more easily if you are not hiding.
3: Feel doors before you open them. Touch the door with the back of your hand. If it the door is not hot, open it carefully. | If the door is hot, DO NOT OPEN IT! Exit through the window instead. If you can't get out through a door or window, hang a sheet out of your window so that firefighters can find you faster.
4: If the room you're in is full of smoke, get down on the ground. If a room is smokey on your way out, crawl instead of walking. Smoke rises, so the air will be less smokey near the floor. | 5: If your clothes catch on fire, STOP, DROP and ROLL on the ground to put the fire out.

6: Make sure your family has a emergency meeting place outside. Never go back into a burning building! When you and your family are safely out of the house, call the fire department or 911. |
